He became a night watchman at Liberation in the early 1990s and spent his time viewing AFP news reports, which had access to press images before they were censored in the early morning hours. It is from this archive that he begins to create his “Encyclopedia of Images”, but also from proposals by artists gleaned or copied from catalogs.
