The building-less museum, created by Yona Friedman, consists of about twenty cubes, designed with large steel hoops - 185 cm in diameter - arranged freely on the ground. "They serve as a support for works of art made from packaging or other objects: graphic works, collages, photographs or graffiti partly made by the public." (Yona Friedman) The Museum without a building is therefore open for the use of all the objects. Each one builds or brings furniture to it "from the collection of objects thrown daily." These modules of Furniture +, that is to say, spaces with the size of a piece of furniture + the space needed for its use. "He can thus invent himself a new town-planning, that of self-planning." Self-planning means trusting improvisation: The Furniture + adapts over time, according to the principles of mobile architecture and space city, developed between 1959 and 2018 by Yona Friedman.

After the success of its first edition in the summer of 2018, the new Geneva Sculpture Garden Biennale is held for the second time from June 26 to September 20 in the heart of the city and presents The Museum without Building of Yona Friedman. In 2020, placed under the police station of Balthazar Lovay, former director of Fri Art Kunsthalle, Fribourg, the Biennale presents some thirty large-scale sculptures, many of which were produced specifically for the exhibition by young artists. Sculpture Garden unfolds in three magnificent public spaces, which are particularly busy during the summer season: the Eaux-Vives Park, the Grange Park and the Gustave-Ador Quai. Yona Friedman's Sans Bâtiment Museum will be installed in La Grange Park and will be activated under the artistic direction of Nader Seraj with the artistic collaboration of Cneai.
